Camp Livingston Staging

Preparing for camp

Everything a family needs before the first day of the session.

Before you go

Five things to sort out

Getting to camp

Drop-off and pick-up

Sessions begin and end with parent or guardian drop-off and pick-up on site, in windows assigned by camper last name. The process takes no longer than 15 minutes start to finish. Transportation to and from CVG airport is available by advance arrangement. Campers, including Hadracha, may not drive themselves.

Lodging & meals

Where campers live and eat

Three villages — Tel Aviv for campers who identify as male, Jerusalem for campers who identify as female, and the Negev for older campers. Renovated cabins sleep a maximum of 12 campers with two to three counselors living in each. All food is kosher and the separation of milk and meat is maintained.

Health & wellness

Camper care around the clock

The Camper Care Team — two nurses and licensed social workers — is available 24/7 to administer medication, provide first aid, and support social and emotional wellness. Contact the Executive Director to discuss reasonable accommodations for your child.

Keeping in touch

Connected, without screens

Campers do not carry phones, tablets, or internet-capable devices. Mail and packages are distributed daily except Shabbat. Parents can email through CampInTouch; letters are printed and delivered with the daily mail, and campers reply by post.

Packing

Do's and don'ts

Label every item with your camper’s full name — laundry service is included in camp fees. Leave behind medication, food and candy, phones and consoles, valuables, and clothing that is revealing or carries inappropriate slogans.

Lodging & community

Communal living, cared for together

Camp is a communal living experience. Every camper contributes to the atmosphere, cleanliness, and respectful care of their cabin, village, and camp as a whole.

Campers sleep in bunk beds with assigned cubby space. Cabins are well ventilated and villages are shaded through the day. Each village has two senior staff yurts. Shower houses have multiple private showers, changing areas, toilets, and sinks, cleaned twice daily by the maintenance staff.

Cabin requests can be made on the camper application — two requests per child. Camp makes every effort to honor mutual requests.
Keeping in touch

Three ways to reach your camper

Snail mail

Write often. Mail and packages are distributed every day except Shabbat; Saturday mail goes out Sunday. See the Parent Handbook in CampInTouch for package rules.

Email

Send email through CampInTouch. Letters are printed and delivered with the daily mail. Campers reply by post.

Telephone

Campers do not use the phone at camp, with one exception: a prearranged birthday call from family. Time-sensitive information reaches your child through the camp office at (812) 427-2202.

Packing

Please leave these at home

  • Medication of any kind. All medication must go through CampMeds.
  • Food, beverages, candy, and gum. It attracts animals and insects into cabins.
  • Cell phones, game consoles, tablets, and computers. These are held at the camp office; camp is not responsible for loss or damage.
  • Valuables — watches, jewelry, expensive cameras, and delicate or new clothing. Inexpensive digital or disposable cameras are encouraged.
  • Revealing clothing or clothing with inappropriate slogans.
